Kentucky Kingdom Theme Park, Louisville, Kentucky

Travis has been trying to get to Carowinds and Dollywood for years and somehow each time he planned a trip to those parks it all fell through.  This year he asked if Bond and I would be interested in going and as it had been ages since we had been to those parks the planning began.  Not wanting to do a repeat of last years trip where we literally spent an entire day traveling out to Washington DC for Six Flags America and then driving back overnight to get home from Kennywood we looked into what we could do to break up the long drive.  Looking at a map it made perfect sense to stop off for some fun in Louisville with the boys at Kentucky Kingdom.

Last year I had a great time at Kentucky Kingdom all by myself so I was looking forward to even more fun that my two favorite traveling companions were going to join in.

Part of me was looking forward to coming back for Kentucky Kingdom's coasters like Wilderness Run, Wind Chaser, Kentucky Flyer, and Lightning Run but part of me was also looking forward to checking out how Herschend Family Entertainment was further transforming this park into their sort of a park.  Last year they started to transform the park with the re-theming of the Discovery Meadow section and this year the transformation continues with the addition of Flying Fox to a corner of the front of the park.

The Flying Fox is themed to Kentucky's aeronautical and agricultural heritage as you are joining crop duster Jeb Fox as he barnstorms through the skies above Kentucky Kingdom.

Focusing on being more of a family park and constrained with height restrictions caused by existing right next to the Muhammad Ali Louisville International Airport, Flying Fox doesn't go for heights with a sixty-five foot tall lift hill.

Kentucky Kingdom has had a gap in its coaster lineup between the Holyhock & Roll kiddie coaster and the rest of their coasters which are medium to extreme thrill machines.  The Flying Fox looks to be a fun and thrilling coaster for the whole family.
