Six Flags America's history can be traced back to the early 1970's when it opened as a drive through animal preserve called "The Largo Preserve".  It has changed hands, started adding rides and a water park and in the late 1980's grew into a theme park called "Wild World and "Adventure World" before being merges into the Six Flags chain when Premiere Parks purchased Six Flags.  It has grown over the years with a lineup that includes the Wild One, a John Miller design that dates back to 1917 (it was moved from Paragon Park), Roar and the stellar Superman The Ride of Steel.

The 2025 season was the final one for this park as it was decided to close it after the Six Flags/Cedar Fair merger due to the proximity of Kings Dominion.
