For the last few years Kings Island has had The Gravity Group
tweaking The Beast with a few re-profiled track here and there as well as
rebuilding the coasters double helix finale to make the coaster more
rideable and to reduce maintenance costs. This year though they
did enough to The Beast that I'm leaning heavily on counting it as a new
coaster. What they did was add a couple of moments of airtime
between the first drop and the rides super long mid course brake run.
This coaster has never had airtime and suddenly adding two moments of
airtime to the recipe really seems like a new and improved Beast.
So let's call this The Beast 2.0 and applaud Kings Island for making an
already good ride even better.
Even though this is my second time at Kings Island since Viper was
removed I still can't get over not having it towering over The Beast.
Hopefully Kings Island's next big addition is a nice multi-looping
coaster on
this site built by the likes of S&S, Intamin, Mack, or B&M.
Mystic Timbers has been a favorite of mine at Kings Island due to how
much it is like Worlds of Fun's Prowler with a ton of theming added to
the ride.
Mystic Timbers is a fast, fun, twisty, and thrilling run through the
woods.
It has never given me a bad ride but I'm not sure what Kings Island has
been doing to it but Mystic Timbers is running the best that I have
ever experienced it and that includes opening day.
