Throughout it's life Kentucky Kingdom has had ups and downs but it has
persisted. The park opened in 1987 before closing a year later.
In 1990 the park reopened under the guidance of businessman Ed Heart
before it eventually became a part of the Six Flags chain in 1998.
Before the 2011 season Six Flags announced they were going to leave the
park in limbo. After several years if being closed Ed Heart came
to the rescue again reopening Kentucky Kingdom in 2014. Eventually
the park was sold to Herschend Family Entertainment, the owners of parks
like Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. Herschend has just started
putting their mark on the park and it will be exciting to watch it
finally reach it's potential.

Kingdom throughout the years.
