The jet on final approach to Louisville International Airport as
seen in the distance of this photo is a big reason why Lightning Run
wasn't able to go higher. Being right next to the Louisville
International Airport, the sky has a very definite limit to how high
attractions can be built, and this forced the design team at Chance to
get creative.
Lightning Run is packed with hyper coaster levels of airtime, yet the
ride is half the height needed to be considered one.
For Lightning Run, Chance took the track and trains that Morgan brought
to the table and modernized them so they could make a coaster with
extreme ejector seat airtime while also making the ride as smooth as
possible.
Being a lover of extreme airtime, this was the coaster that I was most
looking forward to trying at Kentucky Kingdom and I most certainly was
not let down.
Lightning Run is jam packed with airtime and as you can see on this
picture it is full of "hair time" for those who have any.
