Next stop is the Carolina Goldrusher. Just like Fury 325 and the
Carolina Cyclone the name of this Arrow Dynamics designed mine train is
tied to an actual gold rush that occurred in 1799.
The Carolina Goldrusher opened with Carowinds in 1973.
The Carolina Goldrusher is an interesting early design by Arrow
Dynamics.
The Carolina Goldrusher has all of the standards for this type of
coaster with a slow roll out o f the station, through a transfer track
and a maintenance area before coming to a lift.
Once the Carolina Goldrusher clears the rides lift there is a nice dive
to the ground with your standard speeding through the woods like most
old school Arrow Dynamics mine trains. Then for the last third of
the ride the Carolina Goldrusher becomes the Star Wars Death Star trench
run ride as it heads below grade in a trench. The ending is really
where the Carolina Goldrusher really shines. While I might
question riding a multi-looping coaster by Arrow Dynamics there is no
way I'll ever pass up riding one of their mine train coasters like the
Carolina Goldrusher.
