It was obscenely hot during out stay at Carowinds and sadly the ONLY
water ride in the park (the Carolina Shores waterpark was surprisingly
closed) was Charlie Brown's River Raft Blast.
For some reason Carowinds removed their log flume in 2009 and the rapids
was removed in 2018. Yes, rides age but Carowinds is in the south
where it gets HOT. It is completely insane that they were removed
without a replacement.
Thankfully the Charlie Brown River Raft Blast was added to Carowinds'
Camp Snoopy section in 2005. These Splash Battle rides from Mack
Tides are a lot of fun but only seem to be a success not as a major
ride, but more as a fun addition to a kids area.
As Carowinds opened in 1973 it is no surprise that the park has a
classic Von Roll Observation Tower. The Carolina Skytower; like
others, are not thrill machines but they serve the purpose of getting
guests off of their feet for a few minutes in some air conditioned
comfort where they are treated with an amazing view of the park beneath
them and the surrounding environs.
From the Carolina Skytower you are given fantastic views of North and
South Carolina as well as the twisted tangle of track that is Copperhead
Strike.
You also get a great view of some of the hidden parts of the Carolina
Goldrusher.
