Fright Fest 2014 at Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Missouri

This was a weird coaster season for Bond and I.  It started out with runs to Kings Island and Six Flags St. Louis then everything went crazy in May and June when we visited nine parks in a little over three weeks.  From the second week of June well into September though there were no coasters for us as whenever we tried to visit a park life got in the way in some way or form.

With that huge dry spell we needed to get everything we cold out of the remainder of the season so on our final free day before Six Flags St. Louis closed for the season Bond and I hopped in the van and headed south the hundred miles to the park closest to us which is Six Flags St. Louis.

Of course being October Fright Fest was on at Six Flags St. Louis.

If you frighten easy just remember to repeat the mantra "the scary monsters won't touch me unless I touch them".

With our litigious society I completely understand this policy in any haunted house attraction but I do have to pine for the good old days back in the 1980's.  When I was growing up when the monsters could grab you.  I had some awesome scares from those experiences that are still crystal clear in my memory as extreme as they were.

With my weird work schedule being Sunday-Wednesday (It is great as I get to visit parks on Thursdays and Fridays when crowds are less) and having to get up at 5am morning it gets a little hard to visit parks when they go to weekend only schedules.  A full day on Saturday would have been nice but we'd have to leave early so I could get home to sleep before work.  As we wanted night rides and to be able to experience the monsters that come out after dark during Fright Fest we headed to Six Flags St. Louis on a Friday night.

I have always been really critical of Fright Fest at Six Flags St. Louis as most of the years I have found the decorations and scare actors sparse and underwhelming.  As uninspiring as it was previously Bond and I skipped Fright Fest in 2013.  Outside of wanting to ride I was curious to see is Fright Fest had gotten better, stayed the same or gotten worse.
