Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois

Marriott's Great America and later Six Flags Great America was one of the parks I grew up with.  It has been a staple of so many of my summers it was really rough last year being able to visit parks in surrounding states but not the park in my home state.

It felt wonderful getting to look up and see the Sky Trek Tower with the red white and blue of this great country called America overhead.

The Sky Trek Tower was not running but I'm not surprised it was closed with all of us coming out of a pandemic and the ride being one where 30-40 people are closed up in a small cabin together.

Walking past the reflecting pool and the Columbia Carousel it felt like coming home.  This park might not be the one I visit the most but it has and will always be home to me.

Another plus was the day of Bond and my visit the regulations requiring face masks were lifted in the State of Illinois.  This was wonderful news as for myself it means no more anxiety attacks from having to breathe through one. If we all can go throughout the rest of our lives without having to wear masks again I would be thrilled.

Completely missing out on Maxx Force in 2019 when the coaster was not up and running for our visit, Bond and I headed straight for it as soon as we got into the park with the goal of finally getting to experience this coaster.
