The Big Reveal of the new Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City, Branson, Missouri

It is always nice to go back in time to the 1880's and leave the real world behind with a visit to one of my favorite places on the planet:  Silver Dollar City.

As someone who has been writing about amusement parks for twenty-four years now and being the regional representative for the American Coaster Enthusiasts I was asked to help Silver Dollar City promote their new Fire in the Hole.

Silver Dollar City rebuilding Fire in the Hole hasn't been the biggest secret in the theme park world.  For at least three years there have been rumblings of Rocky Mountain Construction helping the park rebuild the classic but aging attraction.  Those whispers started getting louder as construction of a large building behind the parks Firemen's Landing  and then they got even louder after Silver Dollar City announced that the original Fire in the Hole was closing at the end of this year after fifty-one years of operation.  With all of that it was pretty easy to put one and one together to come up with a new Fire in the Hole for 2024.

The gate at the center of the photo is where guests will cross the Frisco Silver Dollar Line railroad from Firemen's Landing to get to the new Fire in the Hole.

The reason I was touring the site a day before the rides announcement was that Silver Dollar City wanted to have a few of us take a tour of the ride and be interviewed on camera for marketing materials that would go out to the media the next day with the announcement.  Joining me was Tim Baldwin, the editor of RollerCoaster!, Gary Slade from Amusement Today, and Duane Marden from the Roller Coaster Data Base.

Through these doors is the entrance to the new Fire in the Hole.
