Indiana Beach, Monticello Indiana

It's been quite a long time since I visited Indiana Beach.  In fact, the last time I was here was in 2011.  A lot has changed since then that I was looking forward to taking a look at.  My plan was to get back to Indiana Beach, Cedar Point, and Kings Island as it has been quite a while since I visited those parks too.  Cedar Point is quite the drive from Western Illinois but with a stop off at Indiana Beach cuts that drive in half making it quite a bit easier.

The first change that I noticed was the zip line that Morgan RV added to the park while the owned Indiana Beach back in 2011 was now closed.  Indiana Beach was ran by the Spackman family for over seventy-five years before they sold it to Morgan.  Morgan proceeded to anger the locals, and make a lot of changes to the park before selling it to Apex Parks in 2015.  Apex ran it for five years before out of the blue deciding to close Indiana Beach in 2020.

Thankfully though the story of Indiana Beach was not over as a businessman from Chicago and coaster enthusiast named Gene Staples purchased and reopened Indiana Beach.

Having been a part of my life since my first visit in 1979 it felt good walking down the bridge and seeing all of Indiana Beach around me.

Indiana Beach has two entrances but I prefer to park in the south lot so I can cross the suspension bridge.  The view of the park, especially the Hoosier Hurricane coaster that dives under the bridge, just sets the stage for a wonderful day.
