Accident at Cedar Point: Magnum XL-200 Train Collision.

Post by Loopy » Sat May 26, 2007 10:04 am

Hours ago, I witnessed the aftermath of a train collision at Cedar Point on Magnum. It looks like one train was in the brake run before the station, and the second train entered the same block and crashed into the train in the brake run. I watched the two boys in the back row walk off the ride, but it looked like they were hurt.

I think everyone will be okay. They are being checked out now.

Wow, This is sad news. I just received my latest copy of RC magazine which lists 100 moments in roller coaster history. The opening of Magnum is listed as moment #57.

I'm so glad everyone is alright.

Wow, this year for Cedar Point isn't looking too good. First Maverick doesn't get to open until June, then Magnum crashes. Poor Cedar Point. :(

Did anyone else notice that both of those rides start with an 'ma'??
Stranger coincidence. :?

What's up with CP these days? I've wondered on this stuff a lot since I've never heard on any big crash incidents at the park. It does sound like we're now in a tough situation a lot since Maverick didn't get an okay sign till June and then Magnum had a big bad collision. :(

LOL. Still CP has an excellent record as of safety and it is a shame that this has overshadowed the opening day of Maverick.

Quick revision: They are taking the trains off of Magnum right now. They have a crane next to the ride.

Accidents of any kind on park rides just suck and the ride managers and ops should pay more attention to handle its ride's safety since the accidents are out of the right track to let all guests have tons of fun. :( I didn't think CP did cause this very big incident this time.

Ops generally don't have any control over these kind of things. It is usually a hardware or electrical/computer failure that causes accidents, esspically on major roller coasters.
