Michigan's Adventure rumors/possibilities

Post by Raptor29 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 3:23 pm

Hi guys.

Here's the deal: I am VERY loyal and proud of my home park Michigan's Adventure. I am also desperate to see that it is getting care in the thrill department from Cedar Fair. So, I was wondering if any of you had heard of 2014 or 2015 rumors or possibilites. Thanks for what you come up with or for trying. Let us see what we get!

No word as of yet. That park has been the red headed step child of the Cedar Fair chain so who knows if they will get anything big. Chances are something for the water park.
Life is short....have fun!

Having been there a few times, the waterpark does indeed seem to be the draw, with the rides there more as an accompaniment. I see most of the future investments being in the waterpark, with the occasional flat ride put in. Unless Cedar Fair transfers another coaster, I do not see a coaster being built again anytime soon. Too expensive for that park.

Too expensive, bratman? Michigan's Adventure is one of the most profitable parks in the chain(another reason they should add more),so if they saved up for a couple years they could put in a hyper or less.

In terms of actual dollars earned in profit, it is not one of the most profitable. They may have one of the company's highest profit margins, but MiA likely does not top one million in attendance in a season. That kind of attendance cannot support the building of a hyper coaster, which runs at about $25 million these days. The ROI (return on investment) would be rather poor.

Think of it this way... even if they budgeted for a hyper over two years, thats still $12.50 from each person who comes through the park, assuming my generous one million attendance per year estimate. That's money they have taken in after paying all their other expenses, and taking a profit for their shareholders.

Well, that really gets my hopes up for something big.

Guess I'll have to go to Cedar Point for real thrills. :(

I do see the possibility of smaller coasters being built... or perhaps the relocation of a larger one, like Thunderhawk happening. Thunderhawk gave them a big bang for their buck, as the cost of relocating/refurbishing the ride came in at about half the cost of a new SLC ($5M vs $10M at the time).

I honestly would not be surprised to see Time Warp leave my home park (Canadas Wonderland) and make its way there.

Thanks for the comfort, but I'd rather they scrap that coaster(If you can call it that, because it is a torture machine). :D

I would rather they moved your Skyrider or Bat than Time Warp.

Surprisinglu goes for the boomerang rather than that. It must be horrible. :)

Well, I've never been on a Boomerang before, and, if they pamper it like they did with Thunderhawk it probably wouldn't be that bad.

Plus, I'd rather have a boomerang than a lump of useless steel.

Our boomerang is still stupidly crazy popular. Its not going anywhere. Time Warp's line has declined somewhat as the years have passed on.

I haven't ridden either ride. But I think it would be more interesting to ride Time Warp. Boomerangs do look fun.

Boomerangs can go two ways - either they are really, really fun or really, really painful. I usually end up liking them either way, which is the masochist in me.

Yeah, well, my point is, they have about 125 acres of barren land there, so slap some stuff on there. ( hopefully large and popular stuff, even though it probably won't happen)

To get this topic going along again.....

I've heard that Eurofighters are cheap. I was thinking that that might fit in well, and give the park another step towards fame and B&Ms. :D

What do you think about a Eurofighter there?
