Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

92/93 Blue Streak crew and Cedar Point pictures

Postby CoasterDemon » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:40 pm

Finally got around to scanning these in, so I wanted to share them:

Back in a time when I, myself, would admit to being a 'Cedar Point fanboy' - did 'fanboys' exist then? I dunno. I loved the park back then. We busted our tails on the Blue Streak. It's completely different now. It's been very sad to loose a 'classic' coaster. I rode it last summer for the first time since 1994, and it nearly made me cry. Really lucky to have worked on what was once (for a long time!) a truly great, fine-tuned, perfect woodie.

With all the changes, and then the sad (and quite rude!) closing of Geauga Lake (and then the removal of Laser from Dorney) - I didn't go to CP for many years. 11 to be exact, until last summer. It still can be fun, but it's so different now. Definitely NOT a CP fanboy these days. Rather, I'm one of the ones who wince when I hear someone say something like "Cedar Point is the BEST!!!" or all that crap... anyway, hope some of you enjoy these old pictures

Nice pics.
Wish I could have ridden pre-changes as I enjoyed the multiple rides a couple years ago.

Dude...those are great pictures. I wish I could have gotten the chance to ride the Streak with a nice buzz bar instead of the individual restraints.

Have Fun

^You bet, Paul! Not to mention that nice big-ass BLUE seat, with no lame seat divider

It was coaster heaven. I still have the spiels in my head... to be back there, just for one day and run that ride with the old brakes. It was great...

I know Waterboy would love to see these.

Great pictures man, I too out have loved to have tried the original version. But atleast the corperate version is still running as smooth as glass.

^Smooth as glass?? I mean.. perhaps compared to Mean Streak.

It bounces, grinds and bumps along the track... ehhh.. I'm just jaded. I rode that bad boy for 2 seasons every day. It was a perfect ride. Boooo....

Mhm... I rode it atleast once a week in 2010 and never had a bad ride. And all my visits last year the only time I had a slightly bad ride was near the end of the closing day.

^I can understand that.... I rode it 2 times last year and had to walk away, nearly tear-eyed.

It's a good ride, I can see why people like it. It's just a completely different experience than when it was still a classic.
