So What Will Be Your First Coaster Of 2006?

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

I woke up in Chicago this morning and drove home to St. Louis, but had to stop at SFSTL before heading home. There was a gap of about 4 hrs between major storm systems and I was one of about 100 people to head for the park. I've never seen it so empty. Needless to say, I rode every coaster in the park multiple times without getting off. I also experienced my first Zen ride. :P
The Screamin' Eagle has received some major retracking and needs to be broken in a bit. The new braking system is nice and there's no longer a jolting stop at the end. Once I had a nice headache from all the Gs, I left and came home just in time to enjoy a ferocious thunder storm.

My first coaster of 2006 was Greezed Lightnin'. It was running really good, the mechanics were tweaking the brakes since the mini overhaul, but it was a great ride, as usual.

I was wrong about my first coaster. Instead of the Raven, it was Superman Ultimate Flight. A fairly decent trade.

I love doing that. I'll cheer on spring/summer storms and watch the radar anxiously and when they're about over I'll head to the park, fight my way in against the stream of outgoing guests and after a while end up with the park almost to myself.

Have Fun

Yes that was one insane storm. I did find it amusing that all of the ACErs (including me) lined up for the buffet in the storm. I still have my bright orange rain poncho from that day.

Have Fun

Yeah same, those are good ponchos. I keep it in the car just in case.

We had a whole case of them at Vortex last year - I am guessing for employees who got caught in a rain storm without their yellow raincoat. I never took one though.
