Hey everyone;

My photos from Kings Island's Banshee Media Day are now up. Check them out below:

Banshee Media Day

Oh I plan on putting together a video later this week so I'll post when it is up.

Ooh beautiful photos. Banshee looks like such a photogenic coaster with its stunning colors! Great report.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I come back to the forums after 2 months and I find a giant piece of upside down steel that costed millions of dollars open? I'm just a little bit overwhelmed.

Just wait until you see the video I'm making of it. :-) I should have it up by next weekend.

I'll be riding on Saturday.

Honestly, I'm excited about it, but not nearly as excited as I am about Lightning Run. The videos posted by KK look really good.

Yes Lightning Run looks pretty sick but Banshee is IMHO B&M's best inverted.

I liked Banshee. I didn't love Banshee.
Honestly, I rank it somewhere between Montu and Raptor.

Here's the thing: it has a great first drop, then it's just one "oh, here's a larger version of this inversion B&M has done dozens of times already" trick after another until you get to that slow roll, which was pretty cool.

I'd have killed for a nice 90deg banked camelback (like Outlaw Run has) or some funky, new inversion (like that reverse-inverted turn on Outlaw Run, for example) or a big honkin' over banked turn way above the ground, maybe a ground-level series of zig-zags down in the valley... ANYTHING. Instead, it was just great drop, then Immelman (been there, done that), loop (bt,dt), flat spin (bt,dt), pretzel (ok, that's technically new, but the halves of it felt very familiar), loop (bt,dt) and slow roll (NEW!) then a helix (bt,dt).

In addition, having all the elements being SO huge made for lots of time between each one and the ride just wasn't intense at all save for those moments of strong positive Gs. I can appreciate that it's an engineering marvel, pretty to look at, a fantastic fit for that park, and well-made... it's just not my cup of tea. I had a far better time next door at The Bat, which was running CRAZY fast this weekend.
