Introducing MotoGP - My First NL Coaster Creation...

Post by Dark_Star » Sun Jun 28, 2009 5:30 pm

After what seems a long couple of months, I have finally finished my first no limits coaster design.

Background: The inspiration for this coaster came from "Greezed Lighting", which was a staple at Six Flags Astroworld for many years. Instead of using the normal steel coaster shuttle design, I opted to do something different and use the Vekoma Motorcycle coaster and a reverse lift system using friction wheels.

The design is simple, but that is because I am still learning the nuances of the NL editor.

Name: MotoGP V0.5
Coaster Type: Vekoma Motorcycle
Coaster Operation: Shuttle
Max G - 3.0 (You'll get some small neg Gs off the hills I added)

Download the coaster below and let me know what you think.

Things to do for V1.0 (Time Permitting):
* Improve length of Track
* Add scenery

Any suggestions on making it better? Always looking for constructive criticism :)

One way to learn and get better.

I was going to add a loop like "Greezed Lighting" but I am not sure how to go about it.

Like I said, its a WIP and I am always looking for ways to improve it.

Well for one the reverse lift was kind of long and boring, make it steeper. Also add something a little more interesting besides two little bunny hops. Also maybe instead of going with the straight out and back throw in a few turns, loops and the sort.

Just a few ideas for you.

Have Fun

I will definitely take that into advisement with my design staff (Me and my 2 cats :lol:)

I tried making the hill steeper, but it went into red G-forces at the bottom (Which means dead riders)...will have to tweak it for the redesign.

I have decided to start this project from scratch, incorporating some of the ideas above.

Well here it is...the redesign (Still a Work In Progress) of my MotoGP coaster.

Need to do 3 things (In no particular order):
1. Reduce the G-forces on the turnaround, which I have not been able to figure out how to do.

2. Add a hill at the end to complete the shuttle cycle.

3. Add Supports.

All comments & suggestions welcome.
