The First Drop Ride

Hey everyone;

I am reading the book "Starman" by Jamie Doran and Piers Boizny which is about Yuri Gagarian who was the first person to go into space and came across an interesting tidbit about the Soviet Space Programs training:

They turned an elevator shaft into a drop ride...and were the first ones by far! What an insane ride that would have been plummeting down an elevator shaft.

Have fun!

I would need a few quarts to get me to trust a drop ride built into a Russian elevator.
