A new kind of hybrid coaster!

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

A new kind of hybrid coaster!

Post by CptBeeble » Wed Jul 10, 2013 9:03 pm

In chat tonight, Paul came up with the idea of putting Goliath (SFMM) trains on Diamondback, saying the ride would be much improved.

So let's take that further... Pick a ride to take the trains from and then pick a ride to put them on and let's see what amazing rides we can get.

I'm up for putting the trains from Space Mountain (WDW) on Millennium Force. Tandem seating in a rocket would make that ride terrifying.
My first thought was Jet Star trains, but then I remembered that airtime would probably kill you.

...and let's throw Gatekeeper's trains onto SFA's Superman:ROS

Yes, I realize that you'll have to dig some trenches for ground clearance around the helix and the turn after the first drop, but that only makes it BETTER.

I think TTD would make a good wingrider, too.

Those Whizzer trains would be wicked on Titan or SFMM's Goliath. They're already used to helices!

HEY, how about spinning mouse cars on Thunderhead?

I have yet to have the pleasure of ridding X2 but how about the cars from X2 on X Flight. X Flight is a great ride but imagine the seats rotating as you are going. You could do some pretty cool opposite type maneuvers (seat goes one way, train goes another)

How about the actual Prior and Church trains from the Puyallup Coaster Thrill Ride on the San Diego Giant Dipper? Then put the Prior and Church trains from the PNE Playland coaster on the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper.

I'd also put the trains from the Lake Winnie Cannonball on the Voyage.

Take the trains from XLR-8 or Big Bad Wolf and put them on a mouse.

Crazier ideal rework the suspended trains to spin, like on bearings, to make a swinging spinning mouse

Hey one can dream

What exactly is wrong with Diamondback?

The Diamondback in question is the one at Frontier City...it is an Arrow shuttle loop. There's lots wrong with it.

Holy crap, I forgot they had a shuttle. It's been a long time since I've been there, since I had a horrible experience with the attitudes of ride ops and the GP both the other times I went. Maybe I should make a trip back there. Last time I was there, Wildcat was brand new.

But hey, putting Goliath - or even spinning mouse cars on an Arrow Shuttle would be an improvement as well.
Just not stand-up trains. Ow.
