Bluegrass Boardwalk...Looks like it'll happen!

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

Bluegrass Boardwalk...Looks like it'll happen!

Post by Paul Drabek » Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:46 pm

Hey everyone;

It has been announced that the Koch family and the Kentucky Fair Board have reached an agreement to reopen the former Kentucky Kingdom as Bluegrass Boardwalk and that it should open in 2013.

Here's all the info from the local press:
It appears a deal for the owners of Holiday World to run Kentucky Kingdom could be done this week. WDRB has confirmed that The Kentucky Fair Board has reached a tentative deal with the Koch family to run the park.

The Fair Board is expected to vote on the lease agreement at its meeting this Thursday.
It'll be great seeing them clean up that park, and add some of that Koch magic to it as there is really a great collection of rides there. Hopefully we see a nice Gravity Group coaster there where Chang once sat.

So Gump are you ready for a bunch of visitors next year?

Have Fun

Joe you lived an hour away and never hit it. I have to apologize as I should have dragged you with me. You would have been aghast about all the trash and how poor operations were and would have never happened at Holiday World. Now when you first visit it'll be clean and have awesome operations.

Kentucky Condom...priceless. If that park we're a condom it'd have to be a used one as trash covered and poorly run as it was.

Crap... looks like I'm going to need to get a bigger place. What I'm wondering is, does anyone think it's to forward to go to HW , find Mrs. Koch and ask for a job at the new park now? 8)

Get a hold of Paula and ask if she knows how they're going to handle hiring. They will probablly set up an office in Louisville and have people start the long process of bringing the park back to life including hiring their permanent employees.

Still dude go for it as this would be a great opportunity.

So can I reserve a spot on your couch for next year?

Nice!!! Hey I'll send some good vibrations your way on the job (or any other good paying job that might come your way) as well as cross all my fingers for you.

I am so looking forward to spending some time on Greezed Lightnin' and watching Bond's reaction to it. We need to have a big -G Bluegrass Boardwalk (or BBw not to be confused with Beech Bend - BB) get together in 2013.

They said on the facebook page that they would announce on facebook and twitter when they had details about employment opportunities.

I think this is crazy exciting news.
