Golden Tickets 2010

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

IMHO they need to survey some parents for best kids area not enthusiasts because while KI's is nice it really sucks having to traverse the park to get to the ghetto where all of their kids rides are.

Have Fun

Yeah, I think that was the top 5 list that I disagreed with the most, Paul. I was not overly impressed with many of the kids areas on it.

I'm hoping one day to see Holiday World at the top of the "Best Parks" list. I loved seeing how often they showed up in the top 5s. They're a good example of "The little park that could," I think!!

I was also very pleased to see the recognition for Beech Bend - they ranked as #5 on the "Friendliest Parks" list and were also named the Editor's Pick for Park of the Year, a recognition I feel they definitely deserved.

And, finally of note, while I completely disagree with the steel coaster rankings (other than Millie being on top), I was highly amused to see how many of my own personal top ten woodies ended up on the top ten list. They weren't necessarily in the same order, but 5 of my 10 were there, and 4 of the remaining are fairly highly ranked in my overall listing. I haven't ridden Boulder Dash yet, the only one of the top ten that I haven't.

I agree with the food part. I remember when I went to Knoebels, my friends and I got this HUGE ass pizza, and we all said it was the best we ever had. Hell, if I lived close to the park I would get all my pizza from there lol.

A lot of people do go to Knoebels just to eat. I have seen people come in dressed up, just to go to the Alamo.

I think the park probably makes way more money as a free admission park than they would as a pay admission park because of how many people go to the park just to eat. There isn't a whole lot of food choice in the area around Elysburg, and Knoebel's has so many great choices. I loved that there was even a parking lot just for Alamo customers!

I was excited to see HW reclaim friendliest. I felt like it was a big upset when they lost it last year!

Am I the only one that questions how many of these are just "traditional" winners that people vote for over and over again because they are expected to win? For example, Holiday World getting cleanest park over Dollywood. I'd have voted for Dollywood over Holiday World, because I've seen way too much stuff at Holiday World that should be unacceptable at the cleanest park in the world. The fact the top of the stairs of both Voyage's and Legend's queues are ALWAYS full of empty cups, even on dead days (why is there still no trash can anywhere nearby?) and the roof of the Thanksgiving gift shop is practically completely covered in silly bands and hair bands every summer. I have never seen occurrences like that at Dollywood. Other 'traditional' winners that I question are Kings Island for best kids area and Cedar Point for best park.
