SFKK Who do you want to take it over?

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

SFKK Who do you want to take it over?

Post by Paul Drabek » Sun Feb 14, 2010 9:22 pm

So who would be awesome as the new operator of SFKK?

Personally I'd love to see it as Holiday World East but I could see Legoland or even Cedar Fair moving in as it probably will be a turnkey operation.

Who would you like to see take it over and what would you like to see them do to it?

I'd love to see Holiday World move in ... however I don't expect them to. Nor do I expect Cedar Fair to move in. They've got enough financial troubles and are already trying to unload two parks (the remains of Geauga Lake, and California's Great America). However, I could see one of the other chains coming in to buy it. Herschend, the company that owns Kennywood (Parques Reunidos? can't remember it's spanish name for sure), the company that bought Busch... there are a LOT of options out there.

My only hope is that whoever buys it does something about Twisted Twins. It really wouldn't take too much rehab to get that ride back into usable shape, get a set of new trains, and they've got an extra two coasters in the park.

If Cedar Fair bought it, we could expect the following changes:

Trim brakes added to Thunder Run.
Twisted Twins reopened, but never racing.
Increased food and admission prices.
Total park shutdown at the hint of rain.

However, you'd also see an exponential increase in trash cans.

I'll say Cedarfair just because if I don't already have a season pass to a sister park of a new owner I will not ever go back and pay to get in unless they added something spectacular! lol

I think it will be a long time until anyone buys the park. It could be two or more years. Two years of the rides sitting and not operating can do quite a number. I hope I am wrong and someone snatches it up sooner or I hope that Six Flags will win the battle and be able to take the rides away. That last part could just be me being upset with the fair board though.

I wonder if the one ride they're not turning over is Chang...thus settling that issue?

Looks Like Bond will score those credits before heading to HWN next year.

You haven't visited an Ed Heart ran amusement park have you Corey? After experiencing the old KK and Magic Springs it's hard to get psyched.

I wonder where it's going? I don't think SFStL is going to get another big ride for a while so maybe they'll put it there as it's a fun little ride.

There are rumours going around that SFOG might be getting it.

Is that just a rumor or has that been confirmed as well? I really liked that ride, it was one of the better choices I think Six Flags made as far as rides go. If RRE leaving is true that leaves alot of space with out rides, especially with the sky coaster gone too.
