How Do You Count Racers?

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

How Do You Count Racers?

Post by Paul Drabek » Tue Aug 11, 2009 1:44 pm

During the NY trip I had a little conversation with Orange Whip that made me think a bit. It was over how to count Rolling Thunder. Is it 1 or 2 credits? I went with two as both tracks have a similar layout but are totally different. So how should I could the other racers that I've been on?

The American Eagle: I'm thinking of changing this from a 1 to 2 credit because on the return run the two tracks have completely different elements.

The Racer at Kings Island: I'm going to stick with 1 credit because the two tracks are mirrored so it's the same except for one the turnaround goes to the left and the other to the right.

The Racer at Kennywood: 1 credit as it's the same layout.

Colossus at SFMM: 1 credit as it's the same layout.

So what do you think?

Have Fun

Personally, I've been counting them as 2.
I think it would be easier just to decide on 2 or 1 and go with it.

I count them as two, except for the Kennywood Racer, as it is one track.

I agree with Bratman if it has one track it is one credit. If it is two completly different tracks than it is two credits. Thats just my Opinion.

I guess we sort of have to count as each, if one or another has each different shape or difference in length of the track. Just give it a try to taste the both when you go for the racing woodie. 8)

I actually counted The Racer at Kings Island 3 times for a short period:

Left-Forward
Right-Backward
Right-Forward

I've since reduced it to two.

My theory is that if you can remove one side without affecting the other, it's two coasters.

That made alot of sense Kevin after all the ride experience was changed when KI changed the trains to forward. I would count it as 3 but that is me.

I was always very modest with my count and never counted any racers or duelers twice. To me if it was one station it was one coaster. I had considered counting duelers as 2 but never wanted to since I had already made rebel yell my 100th and counting Lightning Racer as 2 would screw that up. However, I was convinced on our trip to count duelers as 2 since they are different layouts and I now feel free...since deep down, I knew it was 2 coasters

As of now I am counting racers as 1 (except for rolling thunder) and duelers as two. However, I want to make a "second track record" where I try to squeeze out as many credits as possible by counting racers twice, gravity powered dark rides as coasters (i wonder how quickly kidcoaster will respond to this,) trains forwards and backwards as 2, and things like son of beast with and without the loop.

Two different tracks is two credits. Look at Lightnin Racer as it is really different, same goes for Gwazi.
