What's Your Coaster Count?

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

My count:

Number of Steel Coasters: 189
Number of Wood Coasters: 77
Total Coasters: 266

This does not include coasters from travelling fairs, as I did those mostly when I was younger and therefore was hard to keep track of.

My count is around 200 give or take a few.
Steel: 149
Wood: 52

You can find my list at my site.

Now... before someone points out the obvious, I keep more or a track record than a formal count. For example, I count the Racer at Kings Island as 3 coasters. Why? Simple. Once side has always been forwards. The other has been forwards and backwards. Counting the forwards/backwards side twice lets me remember that I rode it when it was backwards and forwards. Same thing with Son of Beast. I count it as 1 for with loop and 1 for without.

Current Total is 124...and that's rapidly climbing. Most of those are in the last two years.

Here's what I mean~
Parks added last year: Dollywood, Carowinds, Waldameer Park, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Valleyfair!, Nickelodeon Universe, Timber Falls, Mount Olympus, Michigan's Adventure, Beech Bend, and Six Flags St. Louis.

So would you count Dominator twice if you rode it at Kings Dominion and you had ridden it at Geauga Lake?

I agree with what you are saying, and it makes sense to count by the ride experience. I've just always counted by the track. Though that gets confusing when it comes to the Kennywood Racer, which has one track, but two ride experiences. Maybe I'll conform! :)

Yes, yes I would. I did that with X-Flight at Geauga Lake and Firehawk at Kings Island. As a result, I don't put too much faith into my count of coasters. It's just a rough number. Plus, I'm sure I've missed some that I rode as a kid. My memory (and my parents') is not always that good.

Don't worry, I know someone who would probably count CP's Troika as 3 different rides as the sign says "Troika Troika Troika". ;-)

Sadly my count is only 48 coasters, 7 woodies and 41 steel. Hopefully I'll get to Carowinds, HRP or Las Vegas this year.

As of 1 /19/09. Andy and I went to Orlando last month.

443 coasters: 110 wood, 333 steel

I've had some wonderful milestones.
100 Mr Freeze, SFOT
200 Tremors
300 Goliath, SFMM
400 Griffon

I've been very blessed.

Would love to hit 500 by the end of 2009. MAN, that would have to be a mighty awesome coaster for that milestone!!!

Well the NYC Trip should help you get quite a way to that number.

Here I can tell like one certain park in Japan has got a LOT of funny names for each coaster as their name is all done with the word of 'coaster'. Like Big Boom Coaster, Camelback Coaster, Spin Turn Coaster, Thunder Coaster, Water Coaster, and so on, LOL. : )

Think 'bout being more creative.

I feel embaressed at only 82 . I should hit 100 by the end of the month. Either at Carowinds or Dollywood on my birthday!
