SFKK This Weekend

Postby rburtz » Wed Mar 29, 2006 2:39 pm

Is anyone going to Opening Day for SFKK on Saturday? I'm dragging the wife and the ankle biters to the park and wouldn't mind meeting/riding with other -G'ers.

I made a vow two years ago that SFKK had gotten the very last dollar they were ever going to get from me. The only thing resembling a good time I have at that park is watching Bond play in the giant ball pit thingy, other than that I spend every second waiting until I can leave. So if you see me there, it will be because Paul has dragged me yelling and spitting into the park - and you won't be able to miss me, because I will continue yelling and spiiting in the hopes that the park will kick me out. :-) So, uh, no. Not going. Hope you have a good time, though!

I know how you feel about SFKK, but we have to do something until May 6th when Holiday World opens...

While SFKK is not my favorite park, I still enjoy it more than Six Flags Great America. Our visit there last year was so terrible that we'll be thinking very seriously about whether to visit again. Maybe if we are in the area...and they offer free parking...and free drinks...and guarantee a friendly staff (I can dream, can't I????)

I liked SFKK. It was real dirty - but I liked it. The rides were cool. Give me a couple advil and I could ride T2 all day! :D

When I was there, riding rides with Paul - I remember him saying he buys his SF pass from SFStl every year cause he contributes no money to SFKK.

Partly, and party because SFStL actually has a cheaper pass - we live farther away from St. Louis, so we qualify for the discount for people who live a long way away.

First of all, I've been lurking here for quite a while and decided to finally register.

I went to Opening Day at SFKK. I can tell they've made some improvements already. It was a lot better than my last visit. The staff is alot friendlier this year....I mean A LOT!!!!! They've gotten rid of that big wooden gate that makes the shortcut from the back over to Thunder Run. (That helped!)

The best part was Chang is finally getting it's well deserved face-lift. They are in the middle of painting it. Bright yellow and dark purple are now the colors. They're doing away with the green altogether. Greezed Lightnin' has had a major overhaul in the off season. Parts from Tidal Wave at PGA were sent in to change out some old parts. To me, it ran smoother. Although, it was shut down once while I was in line to ride. It was up and running a couple hours later, but I noticed it wasn't getting as high on the back spike.

I'll have to say, my trip this time was oodles better than last time. It's nice to see they are making some improvements....I just hope they keep it up.

If you guys want, I can post some pics of the paint change on Chang. Lemme know.

I was there opening day as well with the family. We all noticed a big improvement over last year.

Before the park opened, ten characters were outside the main gate dancing and singing and making the wait fun for the kids. The staff was alot friendlier this year, with people passing out free helium baloons in the kiddie area and all the ride ops being very friendly instead of the normal cranky indifference.

One thing I did notice was the rebranding of all the pizza joints as Papa John's pizza locations.

The repainting of Chang looked promising and the park looked nice overall. There was people planting flowers in the infield of the car ride by Greezed Lightnin'.

My only fear is that this attempt to make the park nice and to have the employees try to make people feel welcome will fade over the season. I hope it doesn't, but my guess is that, at the end of the season, there will be the same complaints as last year.

Only time will tell.

What they didn't have the whole song & dance routine over by Hellivator while everyone was crowded and unable to see a thing from outside the park like in the past? That was the most pathetic opening ever. If you're going to have a big routine at least have it where the park guests could see it.

Have Fun

That is really cool they are sprucing up their image. SFKK has alot of potential - it just needs a small army of lawn mowers - and a few other things - but I really enjoyed the park. It just needs sprucing up.
