Welcome - General Chatter Forum Rules

Enthusiast coaster & amusement park chatter about whatever. If it's not about coasters & parks, it'll go to the garbage file. Keep it on-topic and flame-retardant, please.

Welcome - General Chatter Forum Rules

Post by Paul Drabek » Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:40 pm

Greetings, and welcome to the General Chatter forums! Here's where you can talk about parks and rides with other enthusiasts, or get information on enthusiast groups, etc.. All registered users can post here, so there are some rules you need to be aware of.

1. Please keep discussion reasonably on-topic. While friendly joking around is never a bad thing, total threadjacks aren't acceptable. Additionaly, please don't start threads in this forum that are totally unrelated to the forum topic. Off-topic posts or threads will either be moved to the appropriate forum or deleted, according to the judgement of the Site Admins.

2. To avoid any confusion, forums at this time are moderated by Paul Drabek and Mental Rose. If you have a question or complaint about something we've done, please do contact one of us. Please do not use the forum as your personal ranting board about our methods.

3. Flaming is an absolute no-no here. We'd like to see this board become a close-knit community. So, while other boards and newsgroups have an attitude of "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," this board's rule of thumb is "If you gotta make heat, go to someone elses' kitchen to do it." We understand that disagreements are inevitable, but it is entirely possible to do so in a respectful manner. Users who insist on flaming will be subject to the following consequences:

First offense: Warning, offending post deleted.
Second offense: Offending post deleted, 3-day suspension from boards.
Third offense: Offending post deleted, user ban.

Paul's simple rule for forum behavior is: Be excellent to each other!

4. Please try to keep comments family-friendly. We require parental permission for users under 13 to use the boards; that being said, please keep in mind that there will likely be younger users here and certainly users under 18. Keep swearing to a minimum and adult discussions absent, please.

5. Hate speech OF ANY KIND is not tolerated. The same 3-strike warning system applies for hate speech as for flaming. Again, it is perfectly fine to disagree with a group's policies and say so, but do so in a respectful manner.

Hopefully we can keep these rules in the realm of common sense rather than having to write a rule for every tiny contingency - if you want to do something that isn't specifically mentioned one way or another, please stop and think about it and see if it fits in with the type of community we've outlined here before you post it. The Site Admins are the final arbiters here of what is allowable and what isn't. We will do our best to be fair to everyone involved at all times, please do your best not to take advantage of that.

Have Fun!

I respect and agree with your posting rules Paul. I've been posting on a different site for months and have enjoyed conversing with other enthusiasts. However, some of the content is pretty juvenile and disrespectful. I have a feeling the Negative-G boards will become my online community of choice.

I figured that it has been exactly a year to this day that the last comment was posted in this thread, so I thought it would be neat to make a post. I really love writing in this forum because the rules are very mellow, yet are enforced throughout the site. Places like RCPro and Thrillnetwork tend to be very junvinile (As Eagle Rider said) and they seem to stray away from the topic of discussion. Its nice that I can talk about coasters on this site with people who are intelligent enough to respond to what I have to say. If makes my comments feel appreciated and I enjoy that. So Cheers to Negative-G!

It's kind of too late to say, but I guess this Neg-G forum looks really cool to have fun over a chit-chat with other members, since the posting rules are always so friendly to all. I thought other coaster geek's forums were looking so strict for bad spellers an only one typo or some are not even allowed and may be banned or suspended forever. :?

So cheers to Neg-G forums! 8)

I look at it this way. I cannot speak, much less write that compilcated language of Japanese. If I began to learn, I would hope that you would be patient with me and help me with my mistakes. Therefore, I am patient and do not criticize you for your misspellings. Although, I do believe that English, while difficult to learn, should be learned, if you live in the US. But that is a debate for a different day.

Exactly why I am here. We have good people here.

Since we are in this forum, I do have a quick question....

I have a personal web site that I run just for the fun of it. No forums or anything like that, mostly just my small collection of theme park pictures and video's. I'm not here to spam it, but wondered if I was allowed to share it?

Any personal sites that I plug I always put into my signature which you can do by editing your profile.

Yes feel free to share it. I have no problems with real posters (aka: Non-spammers) having their website listed in their sig as long as the site is in general family friendly (aka: no porn sites).

Hey Mike. Sorry I missed your post the first time around but I wanted to say thank you for your comments. Before I started this I was a regular poster on RRC for almost a decade and had really not been enjoying it for a couple of years due to all of the flame wars. So when starting this I wanted to be a fun place where not only I would enjoy checking in a couple of times a day to read what was posted but others would want to do the same as well. I think we all have achieved that.

Have Fun
