New Adventure for Me - Skyflyer and Bungee Jump

Post by dare-to-fly » Sat Mar 23, 2013 8:51 pm

So it seems the next amusement adventure for me is The Track in Pigeon Forge. It's funny because the manager that interviewed me mentioned that he went to Kings Island specifically to ride The Beast. I don't know if the fact that I worked there for two seasons had anything to do with my hiring, but I'll take it. Skycoaster and Bungee Jump await, as he mentioned they were in need of thrill ride attendants and thought I'd make a good one. Yahoo...

A friend of mine that was on my Beast crew in 2011 suggested that now we have dare-to-3-2-1-fly! I don't think I'll change the user name permanently though.

Not a peep. Not even a hint of a peep. The weird thing is that I've gotten 2 interviews and a hint of a 3rd possiblity, and I only turned in 4 applications. She's done like 10 and has heard nothing - weird. Hopefully soon! If not, she's got some skill and hopefully can work on taking some pictures. :)

Seriously? That was a quick adventure. I got a call this morning that said, "I was going to use you on Skyflyer and Bungee, and I just don't really have anything available, so you won't need to come in on Thursday. I will keep your application out and if there are any other openings, I'll give you a call."

Okay, so you hire me...set my orientation...reschedule my orientation...and then say never mind. What kind of a Mickey Mouse operation is this?

Well...as it turns out, I got a call from Fast Tracks yesterday, a similar family entertainment center and go-cart place down the road. They said that they were needing help for spring break running the kids rides and from there we'd see how it goes at it gets closer to main season as to whether to put me on go-carts or leave me where I start or what. Hopefully this one will work out. We'll see tomorrow as that's when I start. I knew it was a good sign when I handed in my application, and it just happened to be the manager who gave me a short mini-interview on the spot. :)

Okay...just an update. I worked my first shift at Fast Tracks today working the kiddie rides. They have by far the most laid back atmosphere I've worked in from what I can tell so far. It seems like things are going to work out okay, so we may have a winner!

From what I'm hearing, their go-carts are better anyway. :)

I'm also amused by the reaction of the management about closing times. This was tonight:
Guest: "When do y'all close."
Mike: "Eehhhh...well....ya know...after the last customer."

Just for the record, that's actually true, too. Tonight the kiddie rides were open until about a quarter after 10. We hadn't had anyone ride them for about an hour and a half, and they were waiting on someone that said she might come back later. After the kiddie rides were shut down, the go-carts were still all open when I left, as was skyscraper and bungee jump. There were still people riding those, and as long as they're getting riders, they stay open.
