Tips for Marineland, La Ronde and Quassy Needed

Post by Paul Drabek » Fri Apr 25, 2014 6:27 am

Hey everyone;

We are hitting three new to me parks on the Schroeder-Con trip in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, tips or things not to miss for Marineland, La Ronde, or Quassy? We are also hitting SFNE, The Great Escape, Lake Compounce and Knoebels even though I've been to those before I'll take some tips for those as well. I'm really looking forward to this trip and am counting down the days as we leave in 25 days!

Have fun!

Paul

Having checked the park out on Google Earth I already figured that out. It looks quite sprawling and if they ever add the mile long boat ride/attraction that they have ground graded for it will become a really enormous park.

I've heard La Ronde's operations are terrible. Also remember they speak French up there.

you will have no problem using English at La Ronde. And we are getting ERT on three of the coasters there, so that negates some of the operations issues.

Or should we get you off to a smooth start on Goliath?

I think that depends on the state of his hangover.

Depending on which gate we use (the park has one at each end) ... it could be Monstre or Goliath

Quassy: Go as early as you can. The park caters to families with small children and you know how that goes: it takes forever to get the kids up, get them breakfast, pile them in the car, get them out of the car, etc etc etc. Unless it's a Saturday, the park is pretty much dead for the first two hours. You can do Wooden Warrior about 20 times in the first couple hours, then hit the rest of the park in the next hour (seriously), then spend the rest of the day on Boulder Dash just down the road.

As for Wooden Warrior, don't assume that the front or back seat will give the best ride. Depending on your height and weight, a middle row might be much better for you. I'm 6'0" tall and around 190# and row 4 gave me absolutely PERFECT floater air (as in floating just above the seat, but just below the lap bar for complete free flight) on the hills before and after the tunnel. It was amazing enough to put WW in my top ten (at #10, which got bumped later that year when I rode Outlaw Run)

We plan on hitting Quassy for an hour or two on a Thursday before heading to SFNE so I don't expect crowds will be an issue. I am very much looking forward to Wooden Warrior.
