The Monster: New Coaster for Adventureland Iowa

Post by Spencerman » Wed Jul 08, 2015 4:27 pm

Earlier this morning Adventureland announced on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 5329805861) that they'd be adding a new coaster, named "Monster". This new Gerstlauer Infinity coaster will feature a 133 foot tall vertical lift, a 101 degree drop, 5 inversions, and 10 airtime moments, all within 2,500 feet of track. This will be Iowa's tallest coaster, and the only coaster on the western hemisphere with a "negative g stall loop". The Monster will be in the spot where the Log Ride currently sits.

You aren't the only one. A local news station did a poll, and 94 percent of the voters wanted to keep the log ride. The park did say that they will replace the Log Ride sometime in the future. If that's the case, then I think that this is a great deal.

It does! It was kind of funny though because I went to the park today and the line for the Log Ride was the longest I've ever seen it! I just hope that the coaster has slightly better capacity.

If you look at the picture of the Monster, you will see three black lines. I believe that those are for the Sky Ride. It would be amazing if the Sky Ride went through the two loops!

Actually if you look "under" the coaster there is the site plan for the log flume and yes where the sky ride is.

I rode it today! The ride is very smooth with some great hang time and laterals. It also has some good moments of floater airtime. It was such a quick ride that you ought to ride it multiple times to get the full effect. Just after our one ride, I really don't remember all too much, other than the great fun.

We also saw Ben Ulin's glow-in-the-dark magic show (which was fantastic) and rode the Outlaw and Dragon once. For the first time ever on a ride, my dad and I actually greyed-out on the second loop, which was interesting. Overall it was a great day and I can't wait to ride the Monster again.
