ACE Convention at SFStL in 2016

Post by Vonni » Wed Oct 22, 2014 10:56 pm

Could this mean SFStL may be getting a new coaster in 2016? Or maybe the long rumored RMC conversion of The Boss?! Oh the anticipation kills me! What do you guys think?

Any sort of new coaster would be awesome. Hopefully with corporate adding Tsunami Soaker and now the new Justice League ride maybe they have decided to build this once great park back up. Still I will finally be going to a con in 2016. ;-)

Coaster Con is quite often planned for when a new large attraction is coming to the main host park. Hence the reason why SFOT asked us to come for 2011 (NTG), Dollywood for 2012 (Wild Eagle), SFNE for 2013 (Goliath, which was not ready), and CGA (Gold Striker). Only SFGAdv for 2015 will break that streak.

We all know something big is happening, obviously. I mean come on, a B&M Hyper Coaster had been planned for Six Flags St Louis before it at the last minute got transferred to Six Flags Over Georgia in 2006 and opened as Goliath! Coaster Enthusiasts and fans of Six Flags St Louis alike have been clamoring for a hyper coaster for years now! I think it would be time for Corporate to send one there.

And on the rumor of Iron Boss, I'm kinda 50/50 on it. RMC does make beasts of rides out of wooden coasters. Yes I want it to happen as The Boss hasn't been running the best lately, but being one of the longest wooden coasters in the world, there could be a little issue for what Rock Mountain Construction does.

Anyway, 2015 is closer to us, and Justice League: Battle for Metropolis seems like it's gonna be one of the all-time best Dark Ride that Six Flags has ever made. (Sorry Scooby-Doo)

I've heard a lot of enthusiasts say that the length of The Boss could cause a problem for RMC, but I don't understand why? To me its length gives RMC more to work with and could also make for an even better experience. And also, Colossus is much longer than The Boss counting both sides and look what RMC is doing there!

Look at Rattler / Iron Ratler - RMC shortened that rather long coaster by about 2000 feet. Anything is possible.

I ran into Park President Dave Roemer last night and one of the things I asked for (after I asked for a construction tour of the new dark ride later this winter) was if the park was getting a new coaster for the 2016 con? He grinned and said "Well I'd really like a B&M Hyper" so who knows?

I really hope if they do a hyper it just isn't a cookie-cutter one. Do something fun and different like Diamondback, or build upon stuff ala Nitro. Don't just park a generic one please.

Here's a wacky idea, does STL have any height issues? I'd say do a giga at STL. Hell, I'd come more then once a year if that was the case...

No height issues but I can't see Six Flags fronting the cash for a GIGA. But if they did I'd be the first one lining up to ride it.

RMC Boss - length would be a problem.

Depends on the wheels. If they use poly wheels (NTG, IRat) then they'll need to raise the lift hill and shorten the ride by quite a lot. Those things lose speed like a muther.

On the other hand, if they use the harder wheels (Steel Medusa) then it's not an issue at all. Those run just as fast as woodie steel-on-steel (or damn close) and they could use the whole layout without issue. Just look at Wicked Cyclone... it's only losing about 300ft or so of track, BUT the lift hill is actually going to be shorter than the original. Iron Boss could easily keep the length with the right wheels on the trains.
