Diamond Back Is Testing

Post by Paul Drabek » Fri Feb 27, 2009 11:03 pm

According to KI's Blog Diamond Back is now testing.

Personally I think those trains look pretty sweet. It'd be cool if the eyes lit up at night.

Have Fun

Here's some video of it:

Good Lord that thing is flying down the track. Well Bond is getting psyched about hitting parks and I told him that if he started riding that we'd get a WOF season pass and hit KI as well as CP. He thought he might be able to do that.

Isn't it a great feeling seeing him get interested in the parks?

I remember taking my nieces to Centreville here in Toronto... they loved the rides and the kiddy coaster.

Then, they graduated to CW, with the kids' and juvenile rides. I still remember one of them screaming "too fast! too fast!" when on Thunder Run.

Now, they are ACErs, along with me :D

Soon enough, that will be Bond, too.

Hey,

I'm just curious has anyone heard why B&M changed the design for their hyper trains from the straight across 4 seat cars to the Deja-Vu-ish 1 outside-2 together-1 outside configuration?

I just think the straight 4 across would be easier on operations (loading speed and checking restraints).

The whole idea about it is that you have no one directly in front of you. Going by memory from Behemoth's train, you have about 5ft between you and the person in front of you in any seat, save for the first car.

I don't like the new seating style, since it's totally not like what B&M truly wants to have, which means they should have got their each wonderful seat for the better fun. 'Simple seating, harness, and lapbar but puts the guests in a cozy feeling' is supposed to be their motto as they have been happy with making a LOT of heart twisted thrills, and 'be like a bird' floaters in the fluffy sky.

I prefer 4 across seating to the new one.

I like the 4 across seating, but avoid seats that aren't on an end. I'm looking forward to the new trains and think I will like the openness of them. They look very roomy compared to 4 across seating.

I can see Diamond back from my porch, well if there was any lights on. A friend invited me to his stay at Great Wolf Lodge next door.
I look around and see my wonderful life

Good thing as the train has truly got a bright color, though the name of its ride looks like a pretty scary one. The most colorful '4 across seating ride' yes I think so. : )

Don't get your hopes up. There is a trim on the hill right before the mid-course, and then there's the mid-course. I have never known Kings Island to have a brake and not use it. I can think of only one coaster in the park that has one. I predict only slight trimming at both to start with, but it will be there...I know it will.

I'm not an expert, but I notice things. On Wildfire, the trims were not firing in the morning, but they were later in the day. I noticed the same thing on Raging Bull. They are used more as the day warms up and the trains run faster, and the operators are not controlling them.

It's pretty clear that they're not just on or off - they're simply controlled by a speed sensor, and they try to trim the train to a particular speed. I'm assuming B&M has a particular ride experience in mind, and they don't let the parks control that setting.

Sadly this makes me wonder if I'll ever experience a B&M like you guys got to before trims started showing up on the climbs toward the tops of hills. Maybe I started riding too late....

Bratman, what's Behemoth's ride like? Do you notice differences with temperature?

You guys saw the photo of Bratman on Behemoth - that's the photo I want of me on Diamondback.
