July Silver Dollar City

Post by Spencerman » Thu Jun 27, 2013 10:01 pm

My family is going to Branson!!!! :D (Hooray!) We will go to Silver Dollar City on July 9th and possibly the 10th. I was wondering if it was busy in a July Tuesday and Wednesday. I also want to know info on what not to miss and what to see on the first day if we don't do the second. I am really supercalifregelisticexpialidocious excited.

And of course, about the Most Daring Wood Coaster. What would be best for that? Is it scary? (I am not entirely comfortable with coasters yet. ) What other rides are scary and thrilling? Any info is welcome! Thanks for your help!

YIPEE!!!!!!!!! :P :D

Spencerian Outlaw Run is pretty much the most aggressively designed coaster since the 1930's. it will throw you around a bit BUT just pull your (heavy as heck) lap bar down and hold on. Since you're nervous start in the front and work your way back to the rear as you feel comfortable with it. Just remember that yeah coasters seem dangerous in our minds ("Oh jeez I'm going to die!!!") the danger has been engineered out over more than a hundred years by coaster designers and now it is only a perceived danger. Just remember the important thing is to always follow the safety rules and remember to have fun!

Have fun!

Oh do NOT miss the Flooded Mine, Marvel Cave, ALL of the coasters (that includes The indoor one and the kiddy coaster) Grandfather's Mansion and the Train Ride. It is an amazing park and be prepared for the rides at Adventureland to be blown away. Those are good coasters while three of the rides at SDC are world class coasters.

I look forward to hearing what you think of them.

Have Fun

I know rides are safe (I even wrote a report for class) I just get nervous in anticipation, and also the feeling of falling. Thanks for the advice and yeah, I will definitely go to Marvel Cave! Is there anything else to do in Branson? I know about the Titanic Museum.

I just keep getting more and more excited!!!!

I tend to avoid Branson other than sleeping there. The place is cheesy and cheap or a bit too country or over the top televangelist gospel for my tastes. If others are into that stuff great but for me Branson = Silver Dollar City.

Some of the shows in Branson aren't too bad. If you don't like cheesy humor and country music then I would recommend staying away from them. Other than that there is just mini golf, a wax museum, a car museum, and random zip lines.

We visit the fish hatchery and nature center every year. It's free and always fun. It's on the tourist maps, just south of town on Lake Taneycomo right under the dam.

Also, I went to White Water last summer and had a great day. It's a pretty good water park.

Are there any good restaurants? As We have only 3 full days, (two of which are probably spent at SDC) and the part of third at the Titanic Museum, is there anything small to see? We are going with friends so we might hang out with them however.

You have to go to Billy Gails. They have great food. The pancakes are huge (they call them hubcap size) and taste great :D Just a warning parking is EXTREMELY limited and they only take cash. They are open from 7-2 and are located near Silver Dollar City (5291 Missouri 265, Branson, MO 65616) For dinner go to Mcfarlands, they have great food and they are located not too far away from the main drag of Branson.

I always make sure to stop at the Belgian Waffle and Pancake House on Hwy 76.
Not for breakfast, though, you'll never get in.
Wait and go for dinner - yes, dinner. They have scores of savory waffles with various meats, gravy, etc.

Of course, if you can stand the wait, the breakfast waffles are amazing, too.

Hey man Waffles and Pancakes (especially from any Waffle House) are good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or for a 2 am snack.

They rule!
