Darien Lake ride history

Post by Pikapower » Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:28 pm

I figure I post a list some of the noteworthy Darien Lake rides past and present. Now I'm just taking a wild guess about when they opened and in some cases closed. Coasters (with the exception of Nightmare at Phantom Cave) are not included in the list.
The closed ride would be listed in red

Hydro Force/Torped Rapids (1979-1986, 1990-1998): The first rides at the park, a pair of two water slides that were located on the lake

Haymaker (1979): a paratrooper ride made by Heintze Fahte

Lasso (1979?): a wave swinger ride was located where the Emporium gift shop is now

UFO (1980-2013): Installed as part of the Huss rides showcase, a round up style ride, was the last Huss UFO in operation in the US

Rainbow Mountain (1981-1993): a set of four mat water slides, located where 'Cuda Falls is now

Floodgate Falls (1981-2007): a cascading lazy river slide located next to Rainbow Mountain and later 'Cuda Falls, has been SBNO since 2008

Raging Seas (1981-2012): a Mack Sea Storm ride that had fallen in to disrepair over years, replaced with Blast Off!

Crazy Quilt (1981-1998): a Mack Calypso ride that was locate where Lasso is now

Raft Adventures (1996-2009): a Zamperla Mini Jet ride that was themed as river rafts, replace with an animal themed Min Jet ride

Nightmare at Phantom Cave (1996-1998): a Schwarzkopf Jet Star coaster that was indoors, relocated to The Great Escape as "Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon"

I wasn't sure on Lasso's opening year of being 1979 or 1980, if somebody would help me out here about it, that would be helpful!
