An Amazing Old Chicago-Chicago Loop Picture

Post by Paul Drabek » Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:54 am

Hey all

I just received several really cool photos and articles about Old Chicago from a reader named Brian Sargent and one of them was this really amazing shot of the Chicago Loop and the rest of the amusement park being built from the roof.

Here's a close up of the loop. Actually the loops are on the floor of the amusement park awaiting assembly. From the looks of it they didn't concrete half of the park's floor until later in the process. Also note the Ferris Wheel and Trabant that are being installed as well.

In a few months I'm going to get the rest of the photos and these added to my Old Chicago section along with a couple of TV ads that I have been sent as well.

As a kid I always dreamed about having a coaster that went up into the dome and around by the windows before dropping down into the park. It was so big you could see the park 5-10 miles away.

Do you know how tall it actually was feet-wise?
