LeSourdsville Lake - March 27, 2009

On my way to Spring Fling, I stopped by LL for a few pictures to update my collection. I feel dumb for doing this, but just in case I need to:

Maybe this economy will force Couch Sales to close and someone with a clue will be able to purchase the park and re-open it.

I know it's not nice of me to wish Ill on the Couch's but they have not lived up to what they said they wanted to do with it.

Have Fun

He definitely has not, nor does he have any intentions of so doing. All rides, including the Eagle, are for sale, and most of them have been sold to other parks. Things definitely didn't work out like they were supposed to. On the other hand, I'm sure he didn't expect the company he hired to run the park to be so lousy and then steal the profits that the park made when it was open in 2002 (or at least that's what I was told happened).

Without most of the rides, it would be very hard for anyone to open a successful amusement park there after so many years of sitting idle. The Eagle, Raging Thunder, Pirate, Sky Ride, and The Whip are the only rides that I know of that are still left. The rest of the rides have been stripped.

I got an opportunity to ride the Eagle the last year it was open and it had some awesome airtime. I had been following this particular park because it was online as SNBO but had reopened under Jerry Couch. I went in the first few weeks of the last season and everything was not fully opened, but thankfully the Eagle was up and running like a champ. They had greased the heck out of the tracks and even with it's age it just flew. The airtime was great in the back seat to my surprise. What a shame to see it sit there for all these years, like the Dipper at Geauga Lake and just rot. I heard a rumor that there might be some type of small amusement park/ camper site set up next door on the old Fantasy Farm site and maybe the Eagle might run at some point.

I'm glad that you got a chance to ride it. It's still in my top ten after all these years, and it was my first ever wooden coaster.

I wonder how long before it's sold off for blocks of flats. :(
