This is one of those times that I love working at EmergyCare (Erie's paid ambulance service), since a lot of my co-workers are volunteer firefighters. They told me that the ballroom burned down because the initial firetrucks hooked up to Conneaut Lake Park's fire hydrants only to find there was no w...

I second Paul's motion using Gravity Group. They haven't even finished RF2 and I KNOW I'd love to ride another GG coaster (I know, I know...I need to make the long trek to holiday world)

I can't say that i recall any profound ride breakdowns while I was riding. I do, however, recall a few while operating rides (at Waldameer, of course). The Sky Ride was notorious for breaking down. The little safety breaker bars trip whenever a car bounces or sways too much. The only way to get ever...

Hmph! I guess that explains a few rumors I brushed off about the RF2 project. A few people had suggested that the project was going to overrun on price significantly because of a major change unrelated to the design. Here I thought it had to do with the bridge, not the cars. Thanks Ken!

Well originally gravity group wanted to put racer lights on the track over the bridge but PennDOT gave that the big thumbs down. haha. And yes, I'd expect that Waldameer is going to buy stock in roller coaster warning signs. Maybe they'll surround it with an electrified fence. :D

It's not all that great. It's great in the sense that the lines aren't bad, but they keep stripping rides out of there. You'd be well served to visit somewhere else like Kennywood, Waldameer, or Darien Lake.

Great pics! Can you do me a favor and send those to the friendly people at RCDB? I finally convinced them to add the RF II, and they are just dying for construction pictures. Thanks!

I know what the problem is! It's a Maurer Sohne. Do I need to say anymore? Ever since Waldameer installed a Maurer Sohne, it's been nothing but electrical problems with the ride. (It's supposed to have a battery backup to finish the cycle, but 9 out of 10 times it doesnt seem to work. The brakes, fo...

Well I'm sure that if it's possible, Paul Nelson will do it. But here's where my naivity comes in. Are there special trains used on a twister?

The trains you saw were the old ones from the Comet, that were replaced with the current neon green and orange ones. (Although, you aren't far off. PTC is making the trains for RF 2)

Even I, a Waldameer fan tried and true, am very deeply saddened by this tragic news. It truly will be a missed park, if someone doesn't buy it. I just hope that, if this really is the end, most of the rides can be saved. It'd be a shame if the tumble bug isn't taken elsewhere. It's an even bigger sh...

Hey Paul! Ya beat me to the punch!!! I was just headed here to post that haha. I stopped by the park today, and I'll try to get a picture...the first major support is in the ground for the first hill. Masonry work is starting on the bridge that will support the road-crossing 161ft length arched trac...

How would you like to have a 6-2 lead with TWO OUTS AND NOBODY ON in the bottom of the ninth inning, and lose 8-6? I hate to agree, but those are the Indians for ya. I love the Tribe, but wow. Sounds like bad depth in the bullpen. Here's food for thought....Borowski (the closer) has 11 innings pitc...
