The off season stinks. That's just a fact of life here in
the Midwest. There's nothing good to ride outside of taking a huge
trip far away and the weather just drives you crazy. Well with
needing and I mean NEEDING in a bad way to ride I decided to surprise
Bond with a trip. Actually I really wanted
to reward him with something special for turning his grades around and
doing a lot more at home without guidance. So I decided to
surprise him with a trip to a park he's been wanting to go for ages:
Silver Dollar City.
So I planned and planned and on Thursday March 24 I picked him up from
school and sprung the trap. The video above is his priceless reaction
to finding out that instead of sitting in class the next day he'd be
speeding around on several coasters.
So after school we sped down the five and a half hour drive to
Branson, Missouri, checked into our room, passed out and then got up and
headed out to kick off the 2011 coaster season. As you can see
Bond's all happy about not having to go to school.
Of course when I made him go to school...well he wasn't as happy.
Look at how thrilled he is to have a learning experience when he should
be riding coasters.
Actually the weather was a bit cold when we got there, well under the fourty degrees
needed to open Silver Dollar City's big coasters so we wandered around
exploring the park while Mother Nature did her work.
Bond likes to get his "Disk-O on" and as it'd make me ill I let him go
off and get a spin on Silver Dollar City's Electro-Spin.
