Paramount's Kings Island Kings Mills, Ohio November 6, 2005 Page Three
The Beast was extremely rough on my last ride on it in 2002 so I wasn't expecting much from it today. Surprisingly it was running pretty smooth. While it doesn't give me the negative-g's that I look for in a coaster it is a fun ride out through the woods.
From The Beast you can get a nice view of its neighbor The Vortex.
The Vortex is a mega-looping coaster built by Arrow Dynamics in 1987.
Unlike most of the Vortex's brethren it doesn't dive right into a series of loops right after the first drop. That's one of the reasons it is my favorite of the Arrow mega-loopers that are sadly starting to disappear from the amusement park landscape.
