Old Chicago: The End Page Two
For years the old park sat dormant waiting for someone to do something with it. There were countless ideas or rumors about possible purchases. It was going to become a baseball stadium (can you say Old Chicago Cubs?), a casino, a sports complex, a factory outlet store and an international trade center for the Peoples Republic Of China.
It sat empty until 1986 with several last minute attempts to sell it which fell through and most of the city just wanting to demolish it Old Chicago was put on the chopping block.
Soon the wrecking balls were swinging and the park was being wiped off the face of the earth.
