Kennywood Park West Mifflin, Pennsylvania May 31, 2004 Page Three
Kennywood has a very organic feel to it as the park has slowly grown up and developed over the years along with the plant life that provide ample shade during the hot summer months.
You're correct, that is our first President, George Washington. He passed through Kennywood not to try some rides out because Kennywood wasn't quite open for business at the birth of our nation. George Washington was in the Virginia Militia that passed through here during the French and Indian War back in 1755.
Next to the statue of George Washington is one of the coolest flat rides ever, the Kangaroo. You go around and around on the Kangaroo but once a lap it gives you a kick of airtime. I wish there were more of these but I think Kennywood's is the only one remaining.
One of the many classic gem of a rides that reside at Kennywood is the Jack Rabbit rollercoaster.
