While mapping out the trip home from Six Flags New England I
noticed that the route took us took us about forty-five minutes from The
Great Escape. With the short trek out of our way and it being
owned by Six Flags we could get in with our season passes it was an easy
choice to leave Six Flags New England a little early in order to score a
few rides at The Great Escape.
As you can see everything is wet. When we left Six Flags New
England we weren't sure if we'd get any rides at The Great Escape
because it was pouring down hard and the forecast called for that for
the rest of the day. We went like pilgrims with faith that the
coaster God's would shine on us and they did. As soon as we pulled
off of the expressway the rain stopped and the clouds parted and we were
greeted with a completely empty parking lot, well not completely empty,
there were 4 cars in it but still that's empty.
We were about to experience Exclusive Park Time.
The Great Escape opened up in 1954 as Storytown USA.
Storytown USA was themed to Mother Goose and many of it's little
displays or attractions like this Jack & The Beanstalk display are at
the park giving it a really nice charm. The Great Escape reminded
me of the Santa's Village up in the Chicago area that I used to visit as
a kid. The Great Escape is like that but much, much nicer plus
some awesome coasters.
