I'm probably going to say this again but the trip to Coney Island
was akin to a religious experience for me. I mean right where we
were stranding was where LaMarcus Thompson built his Switchback Railway
back in 1884 which was the first roller coaster. This is the very
ground where what I love began. Here in Coney Island Captain Paul
Boylton built the first enclosed amusement park just down the block.
The first looping coaster was here. I could go on and on with the
firsts that happened at Coney Island and probably will before this is
all done.
Here's the rest of the crew who were along with me for an evening at
Coney Island, you've got Corey, Paul, Kevin, Ken and Brian on the end
doing his Unibomber impression.
Every time I looked up and saw the Cyclone my heart sped up and the
thought came into my mind that I had to come back in the morning and
ride this. It was a must and I think everyone else thought the
same as it was pretty much assumed that our plans had changed.
As someone who as into coasters and amusement parks as well as their
history as I am Coney Island is sacred ground and the Cyclone is a
cathederal.
