At ninety-three feet tall the Tornado is the tallest coaster in
Iowa.
The Tornado was added to Adventureland for it's forth season in 1978 and
was designed by Bill Cobb who also designed the Judge Roy Scream at Six
Flags Over Texas and the Texas Cyclone at the now defunct Astroworld.
Bill Cobb doesn't have many coasters solely to his name but he worked
under other designers like John Allen on rides like The Great American
Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Texas and the Screaming' Eagle at Six
Flags St. Louis.
Now I wasn't expecting much from the Tornado as the last time I visited
Adventureland in 2000 it was extremely rough and pretty painful to
ride.
So I figured that I'd hit it first and get it out of the way and then
spend the majority of my time camped out on Outlaw.
